Recently I've been writing a cliffhanger challenge fic with

booster17 . Well, three of them, actually. Unlike some of these that I've written before, it hasn't derailed into complete crack enjoyable only to those privy to dozens of private in-jokes, which is remarkable. And it also contains the first original character in it that I've ever came up with and actually liked.

His name is Clark and he's a seven-foot tall, cowboy-hat-wearing, keyboard-playing, lisping lizard. Booster threw him at me during the first story in a mad attempt to move the milieu of the story out of the Wild West, and he's stuck around ever since, playing the hero on more than one occasion and always good for the occasional wise crack or joke. We've discovered that he's the old organist from the Temple of Offler on the Discworld, has a prehensile tail, and a prehensile tongue. More than once it's been hinted that the lisp isn't just because of his pointed teeth, as he's cozied up to both Captain Jack and Captain John (though he always keeps his eyes open for pretty girls too).

I enjoy writing this character. I've never written much anything creatively outside of fanfic, so this is new to me. Sure, he's as much

booster17 's as he is mine, but for once it feels like I've put something truly original out there. Of course, he probably owes something to Frobisher, but I hardly consider that to be a bad thing.
