Fic: The Lost Age (1/??) (Buffy/DrWho/Firefly)

Title: The Lost Age (1/??)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] moragmacpherson
Rating: PG-15
Timeline: This story takes place during that sixty year block that I glossed over between chapters three and four of "Another Side of the Sky". Buffy's thirty here. In the Firefly universe, it's at the beginning of the movie.
Disclaimer: If it's a character or a place, I don't own it.  Some dialogue is recycled from the film.
Archive: Here, TtH. If you'd like it, let me know.
Betas: Depending on the chapter: MissJulie and/or Mishka,
Summary: Buffy, Jack, and the Doctor accidentally land in a system where aliens fear to tread.

Buffy had missed that grin, and the Doctor's accompanying joking. “My goodness. You have quite the effect on females, Jack. Even the TARDIS gets a bit frisky when you’re about.”

Jack snapped his braces with his thumbs. “It’s a gift, what can I say?”

Buffy smirked and leaned over the Doctor’s shoulder. “So what dark alley has he lured our ship down when we just wanted a quiet vacation?”

The Doctor was practically vibrating with excitement. “The Malakasat system, during the Lost Age.”

Jack’s jaw dropped. “You’re kidding.”

“No. Look.” The Doctor twisted the monitor towards Jack. “Ever been?” He rocked on his heels, and Buffy squeezed his shoulders.

“Nah, all the Vortex hoppers at the Time Agency had restrictors on them.” Jack pulled at the one on his wrist. “Tried to circumvent it a couple times, but it just zapped me straight to the Khyder invasion fleet. Living through that more than once is a pretty good deterrent for anything.” The Doctor and Buffy, having been on Khyder during the invasion, nodded in hearty agreement. “How about you? Even done more than wander the ruins on Sihnon?”

“No. It’s forbidden,” replied the Doctor.

Now Buffy understood the grin. “So, how long are we staying?”
