It occurred to me how much it annoys me when other people don't have one of these, and hypocrisy is so unbecoming...

I'm in the process of migrating internal links to DW equivalents. Also, because of other life commitments, there are also a few other fics that are only posted and listed on my Ao3 profile. [Ao3 Link Here]

Master Fic List and My Transformative Works Policy )

If you haven't been watching, the spontaneous transformation of E! Online's TV's Top Couples poll comment section into a Doctor Superlock RP session is one of the greatest and most beautiful things ever.  My favorite moment?  When Jim Moriarty started flirting with Lucifer.
moragmacpherson: (Default)
Okay, lots of things to get through in this post because I've taken time and actually gotten shit done in my real life.  Astonishing, I know.  Sorry if I haven't been responding to comments/emails in a timely fashion - it's easy for me to get lost in my thoughts lately.  So, first things first:

Remix Reveal, Castiel Comment Fics, and May Writing Meme Days 6-10 )

moragmacpherson: (Default)
I've been having trouble making cuts and such work here on DW, so this is just a place marker directing my circle members to the two fic posts I just made: the first is my first ever porn fic (and heaven help me, it's Wincest), and the second is a collection of writer's block busting ficlets I wrote for prompters a few weeks back.  Then there are my xover_exchange fics, one Torchwood/Firefly and the other Doctor Who/Leverage

The Many Forms of Comfort (Supernatural, NC-17, Sam/Dean)

Four Ficlets for Supernatural, one Doctor Who/Discworld (PG-13, Gen)

Too Good to Be True (Torchwood/Firefly, PG-13, Gen)

The Nick of Time Job (Doctor Who/Leverage, PG-13, Gen)

moragmacpherson: (context)
A couple weeks back I was feeling writer's blocked (it happens), and so I opened a bottle of wine and asked a bunch of f-listies for five prompts, all of which would get comment!fic filled that night.  These are those fics, all cleaned up a bit, but because I'm feeling too lazy to deal with headers, just take my word for it that all of these are rated PG-13, are gen, I don't own any of the characters involved, there are spoilers up through the current season of Supernatural, that the prompts can act as summaries, and that none of this is beta'd.  It was, however, fun.

Sam doesn't want his soul back, but that's okay. His soul doesn't want him back either )

Something Jo left out of her Yahoo! Personal: Jo Harvelle knows knives even better than she knows beer )

In which I fail yet again at coming up with prompts, cause all I got is this: bird shit. )

Turns out, Castiel is totally lying about the war in Heaven. )

The Doctor uses the chameleon arch to change into something other than human )

There's a plottier bit of this 'verse that's been going through several iterations but as I've always said this 'verse is a) timey-wimey enough that posting order is ultimately inconsequential and b) something I'm doing for fun and relaxation, I'm putting this vignette up on impulse.

moragmacpherson: Words, words, words (words)
Spent the last two days catching up on all of Doctor Who since the end of series four.  My thoughts below:

Lots of spoilery bits through the end of series five... )

moragmacpherson: (delirium)
To start: reena-jenkins has read a marvelous podfic of  Hellmouth High Schools Don't Have Reunions, one of my Buffy/Doctor Who crossovers --- Link to podfic -- Link to podbook (with cover art!) -- I don't know much about podfic, but it held my notoriously short attention span even though I hate re-reading my own stuff after it's been published - mostly I'll only do it when starting a sequel or trying to add to a dormant WIP.  I'm now fighting the urge to go back and completely re-edit the story to meet my current standards.  (Why didn't I use a beta?  What did I have against the word 'said'?)  Rest assured: any faults with this project fall on my side.  Thanks so much, reena, and if you still want to tackle Impossible Things, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

On that note: I'm about five days worth of postings behind on finishing my spn_j2_bigbang rec list.
One of the reasons I don't know much about podfics is because I'm kind of a speed-reader and podfics slow down the rate at which I consume words; to wit: at the very least I started and in most cases I read through every non-D/C story published this round  (I'm not anti-D/C, per se, but my lack of enthusiasm for the pairing in general means that I'm really not qualified to judge D/C fic).  I'd do the math on how many words that is (and that's not all I was reading this summer) but I'm certain the total would be highly embarrassing.

Anyway, the rec list will be fairly comprehensive and there's already twenty stories on it.  I just need to catch up on the ones published in the last week while I was moving back to school and then I'll post the rec list.  The reading's going a little slower now due to school things, me actually writing my own fic, and me trying to read through nominees at the Crossing Over Awards.  I'd pimp myself over there but honestly, my stories are up against some serious competition and I have no expectations whatsoever.  (The 'Best Non-BtVS/AtS Crossover' category is so incredibly strong this year, it's mind-boggling.)

moragmacpherson: Words, words, words (words)
Oh, and I totally forgot to post this last week: I haz published slash!  I feel like a real fanfic author now.  ;-)  There will be more of this shortly, but Fish is an excellent and honest beta and tore the next segment to shreds, so now I must rebuild it before posting.

After six bloody months!  And I'm rather happy with it too, albeit I haven't heard any shrieks from the general UK direction, so Booster may either be asleep or at the pub, not that I blame him.  Bear in mind that due to the rules of our fic (we must send out our next chapter before we can publish the next one so that we can't paint ourselves into a complete corner, even though we've never had to use that safety net) that the chapter that just went up was written back in December and is a little short, but posting should get back up to speed for the summer.

But, God, I love this story.  So much fun, so much trans-Atlantic taunting.

My dearly beloved Roomie is not a participant in fandom, but she watches most of the same things that I do, reads a lot of the same things I do, and teases me for my fanfiction and internet addiction in general.  This leads to exchanges like this one from last night, when I finally watched Avatar on her parents' Home Theater System of Doom:

Me:  Eww... ganglia.  Do the Na'vi stick those into everything?
Roomie:  Pretty much.  They also have tails.
Me:  ::shudders::  Remind me never to read the fanfic.
Roomie:  ::grins::  Rule 34 is a cruel mistress.

Some other fun fandom observations from Roomie in the last few weeks )
In other news, my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang  fic got claimed by an artist!  It's very exciting, I can't wait to see what she comes up with.  I'm also looking at the story for the first time in about a week this weekend - having given myself a break, I'm hoping I'll be able to see the text with clearer, more objective eyes.  Deadline's May 3rd for both me and the artist, it's going to be really exciting for me to see what this fic's final form looks like (and you'll all be happy that I've stopped nattering about it)

"Time Flies" is a collection of drabbles, droubles, and dribbles that occur during Another Side of the Sky.  This set all take place during chapters one and two.

Part Two
moragmacpherson: (wtf?)
Finally picked up Transmetropolitan through the new version of the volume 1 trade.  Loved it every bit as much as everyone always said I would.  Damn, but it does make me miss Hunter S. Thompson something fierce.

One thing it does make me wonder: how the heck has the Doctor not run into The City yet?  I'm having grand fun with him there, and he hasn't even gotten out of the alley where the TARDIS landed yet.  I have no idea whether there's going to be any market for this crossover, but it's just begging to be written.

Title: Sitting, Waiting, Wishing (1/1)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] moragmacpherson
Rating: PG-13
Content: Action, angst, humor, romance, drinking, non-graphic violence, non-graphic sex, language, references to racism
Timeline: Set during Blink for DW, sometime in the Season Eight comics for BtVS
Disclaimer: Oddly enough, characters = not mine. Note for attorneys: if I file for bankruptcy, the only creditor who will still be able to get me is the student loan guys.
Archive: Here, TtH, & Teaspoon. If you'd like it, let me know.
Author's Notes: Sequel of sorts to Impossible Things.  With a "blink and you'll miss it" mini-crossover somewhere in there.  Those of you with sharp eyes will see it.  Also, when it comes to units of measurement, Martha is thoroughly metric, even if the UK wasn't yet.  If anyone sees any other anachronisms or failures in my British-isms, please let me know.  Title is from the Jack Johnson song; if you don't know the 13th Floor Elevators and like psychedelic music at all, I advise you to check them out.
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] booster17  thought it worked out okay and led me by the hand to some of the best jokes.
Summary: Selections from Martha Jones' diary while she and our other intrepid heroes, Buffy and the Doctor, wait for the TARDIS to appear in 1969.

I told you two to stop reading this. Yes, Doctor, that also means no making anymore flip book cartoons in the corners. No, not even if they're educational. )

A professor of mine recently sent us that old Wired article about Six Word Stories.  I decided to try one.  It wound up summarizing most of my writing over the last year.  I'd love to see other people's stories, feel free to add them in the comments
