So, yeah - this is so not my ship, but jaimeykay is on board with it, and she's awesome and needs to get better soon. When it comes to special occasions, I can be a little flexible in my shipping - for a hundred words at least.

Castiel leaned back. "What does 'oorah' mean?"

John's relaxed smile dropped for a moment. "You heard that, huh?" Then it returned, now tinged with nostalgia and a hint of sadness. "It's something we said in the Corps. It's, uh, a battle cry, it's a reply, it's all kinds of things. Says all the things brothers-in-arms need to say to each other." He laughed once. "Pretty much means whatever you want, other than 'no'."

"I see." Castiel turned onto his side and laid his hand on John's shoulder. "So, were I to ask if you wanted to do that again...?"

"Oorah."

Thanks - I may not ship it, but it does always kill me when Marines get all sentimental with their oorahs.

I think I could read this about a million times and I'd still be grinning like a moron. It's just so, I don't know - bittersweet, but hopeful, and loving - and I need to invent new words to express how much I love this.

Heh - glad you liked it - all of the Marines in my life are big with the bittersweet, hopeful, and loving, so they probably deserve the credit. So go forth and hug a Marine - he'll probably hold the door open for you while you're at it.
