Fic: Of Beginnings and Endings (SPN/Doctor Who-Torchwood)

Oh, and I totally forgot to post this last week: I haz published slash!  I feel like a real fanfic author now.  ;-)  There will be more of this shortly, but Fish is an excellent and honest beta and tore the next segment to shreds, so now I must rebuild it before posting.

Title: Of Beginnings and Endings
Author: [info]moragmacpherson
Fandoms:
(Supernatural/Doctor Who-Torchwood)
Genre: Slash
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1,642
Ingredients include: Jack Harkness/Castiel, the Doctor, Dean Winchester, canon character death
Beta: [info]fish_echo
Disclaimer:
None of the characters contained herein belong to me and no profit is sought from this venture.
Spoilers: Through 'Swan Song' for SPN, 'Exit Wounds' for TW, and 'Last of the Time Lords' for DW.
Summary: The beginning and the end of the story of Jack Harkness and Castiel. Maybe. Sort of. It's a little wibbly-wobbly.

And this all because I got you into Slash? I'm kinda really proud now. :-D *mems the entry*
And Jack/Castiel? That's the oddest pairing I've ever seen. I shall love it even before I've even read it.

And Jack/Castiel? ... I shall love it even before I've even read it.

EXACTLY! (aside: See, Morag, I told you so!)

She says to me 'So, should I do anything with this Jack/Cas bunny I have? Or do you think no-one will read it?' And I said 'WRITE IT FOR ME RIGHT NOW, IT'LL BE AWESOME AND GREAT AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE IT! REALLY!' And now you've proved me right! *nods contentedly*

Cheers!

So, you're the beta reader! Promise me something. Kick her in the butt if she wants to give up writing RPS.

I am not her only beta reader, but I do seem to be the beta for this 'verse :) But either way, I'm happy to apply some my-foot-to-her-butt action if it's necessary :) (Aaaand given that I've not only written RPF myself but wrote myself into RPF-- tis not one of my better fics, so I have plans to eventually redo it and flip the POV to the RPF char, thus committing further RPF'ing-- I see no reason to give up on a story other than well and thoroughly losing the muse *nods firmly*)

Also, awesome icon, I'm sorry that this is the best I can respond with :)

I still haven't written RPS, unless Jack Harkness and Castiel are real people and no one's bothered telling me. But on that note: both of you need to convince me that I already have a herd of plot bunnies going and the one thing that I really don't need to do is start a J2 AU based on Buckaroon Banzai, even though it would be the purest distillation of everything that happens in J2 AUs. Furthermore, I really shouldn't do it because I can't decide which of the Js would be the rocket scientist/brain surgeon/movie star/comic book hero and which one would have at least two identical twins wandering around.

Though it would a lot of fun to have Misha wandering around in full cowboy getup instead of Jeff Goldblum.

Forget it. I just read it. I love that it makes appetite for more. It sounds promising and melancholic at the same time. And you captured Castiel and the way he changed really well. :-D

When can we expect more?

**Squees of delight that you enjoyed it** Yes, it's an odd pairing, but those seem to be my bread and butter - I jumped on the Tenth Doctor/Buffy ship early and often, and if the Sneer sequel works out the way I plan it, not a lot of folks are going to see the end ships coming.

More of this will be coming by the beginning of next week at the latest, I think: I wasn't kidding about how Fish tore the next segment apart and I need to talk to her about some of the notes (it's always fun when the beta has serious questions about the underlying premise of something - I trust her enough to know that if I want to stick with the premise, I need to be able to explain it to her first). Then again, given the wibbly-wobbly nature of the tale, I might put up an entirely different vignette next (the more I look, the more I think this other scene might be the better choice). Also, I need to finish the beta on denyce's BB, the next chapter of AGAHTL, the filing system here at work, and I'll be out of town all weekend. Dammit.

I like this pairing. It has loads of potential. :-D

Uhm, I'm not a Buffy fan at all, though.

*hug* I'm sorry that there were shreds involved, hon! :(

(I'm sure that you'll more than return the favour whenever it is that I get that draft done. [The dust bunnies are mating madly on it, so I don't want to disturb them by writing more, see? That's a totally legit reason, really!])

Good betas don't let their authors put up stories that they don't think work. You're a good beta. **pats you on the head** I'll give you a call when I'm slightly less headache-y and we'll sort this thing out.

Don't let your plot bunnies accumulate dust bunnies, because then they'll breed like bunnies do and we'll have an epic apocalypse with hybrid dust-plot bunnies and it'll be like that movie Night of the Lepus. And then we'll have to resurrect DeForest Kelly to do an encore of the worst performance of his career, and it'll all just be very messy. So, yeah, don't do that.
